Thank you all for following our journey over the last year!
In 2021, we had the privilege of attending the Organic Farm School where we deepened our understanding of vegetable farming, worked together as a team of aspiring growers, and learned so much about ourselves. We are so grateful for all the days we spent in the field—learning by doing and trying new things.
In 2022, we’ll be embarking on the biggest challenge of our lives so far. Here’s what we’re up to this month.
What’s happening in January
Ordering our seeds
We just finished our crop plan and we’ll be submitting our seed orders very soon. Preparing for this has involved a lot of work on spreadsheets. 📈 We love crop planning as much as any farmer, but the eye-strain was getting real and we’re glad to be finished.
We will be growing a little bit of nearly everything you’re used to seeing at a farmer’s market. Our final crop list is comprised of 30 different vegetables! 🌶 🥒 🍆
Finalizing our CSA options
CSA options coming soon! We are planning to have two types of CSAs available this year. One will be a box-style CSA share that’s available for pickup at a location in town. We are also planning to do a market share CSA, which would give our members the chance to load up a gift card with credit at the beginning of the season that they can use each week at our stand at the Decorah Farmer’s Market.
Keep an eye on your inbox for more details about how to sign up soon!
Starting a farm is no joke! Before we even have our seeds in the ground, it already seems like there’s a never-ending to-do list. We hope to accept this with as much patience and grace as possible in the coming months.
In 2022, we’ll be focusing on accomplishing what we can, learning from our mistakes, and celebrating our successes. No matter what you’re doing, we hope you can too!
