Read all about it! Our new food column: Field to Fork
The soil is just beginning to really warm and therefore things are starting to get busy on the farm. Our friend, Emma Spencer, who we met last year in the Organic Farm School program, came for a visit.
Thanks to her perfect timing, we were able to get all of our onion beds transplanted on Sunday. It was windy and cold but the onions are a hardy little plant and one of the first to go into the garden each year.
My mom always says, “Many hands make light work.” Turns out, she’s always right!
Thanks, Emma, for visiting us in Decorah and helping out at Sweet Season!

Read all about it! Introducing Field to Fork
Recently, the Driftless Journal published the inaugural edition of Field to Fork—a local food column organized by Decorah Farmer’s Market Manager Kristin Eggen and I.
Here’s a little introduction to the column:
“Field to Fork is your new monthly guide to flavor-packed ingredients, recipes, and stories that connect you to the place you live through the lens of food. Each month you’ll hear from the local food community—farmers, food workers, chefs, local foodies—about their work here in our community, the foods that they know best and the people who raise the ingredients that nurture us.”
Check out the first edition, including Kristin’s yummy fresh beet salad recipe, here.
